Memorial Day is truly a day that deserves appreciation and love from everyone who understands the consequences and effects of the battles that those who serve our country face or have faced in the past. Many loved ones have been lost, but their sacrifice is what inspires us to stay strong and continue supporting our country every single day. If you’re looking to take some time to honor our country’s fallen veterans, here are a few Memorial Day events going on in the Phoenix area:

Memorial Day: Star Spangled Celebration

Take some time this weekend to honor our fallen officers, firefighters, and veterans at Cesar Chavez Park. This is truly meant to be a joyous celebration for those who have given their lives and is a very family-friendly event. There will be police and fire demonstrations along with live music and a water play area for kids. Not mention that admission is free for everyone! The show starts tonight @ 5pm.

Memorial Day Observance

Held at the Pioneer & Military Memorial Park, come pay your respects with this year’s keynote speaker Eduardo Pagan, who is an Associate Dean and Professor of History at ASU and also an author and host of the popular PBS series, History Detectives. There will be several groups of re-enactors in historic dress will also take part in the ceremony this year. Ceremonies begin at 9am on Monday.

Flags for Our Fallen

Originally started in 2006 by a handful of patriotic bikers, the now 10th annual Memorial Day rally at the Phoenix National Cemetery will be held all weekend long. They line Cave Creek Road with over 250 American flags and put the bikes in between them to salute the family members going into the National Cemetery for the free 8:00 am official ceremony.

Field of Honor Veteran’s Memorial

The City of Chandler invites you to attend their Field of Honor ceremony with special guests Mayor Tibshraeny, local veteran Lt. Colonel David Althoff, Gila River Pee Posh Veterans Association, and local pastor and Air Force veteran Dr. Michael D. Sproul. The memorial’s completed first phase includes a family plaza overlook that replicates the Arizona State Flag and features low walls with inscriptions recognizing six core values significant to veterans and their families: Freedom, Reflection, Recognition, Sacrifice, Family and Memories. Be there at 8am for the event.

Taking a Moment to Be Thankful

Despite how exciting having a three-day weekend is, those of us here at Deer Valley Plumbing sincerely hope you take a moment to recognize how much others sacrifice to keep us safe and happy in America. We are all deeply grateful for the strength and virtue shown by our veterans, and will continue showing support by doing our part as well. Have a great Memorial Day everyone!
