What is Hydro Jetting and When Do You Need It?

Book Online Now!

Does your home suffer from slow drains? You might soon be facing a wholly clogged sewer line. Your sewer line removes waste you flush from your sinks, tubs, and toilets. If it stops, your waste has nowhere to go except back to your home and potentially right back out of your drains! This is serious and can prove hazardous if you don’t proceed cautiously and immediately service your sewer line. Luckily, hydro jetting can help keep your pipes clean to prevent this home disaster.

What is Hydro Jetting?

Hydro jetting is a plumbing technique that uses highly pressurized water to remove blockage resulting from grease, mineral scale, debris, and tree roots that disrupt your drain line flow.

Hydro Jetting Pros

  1. Hydro jetting gives your pipes a thorough cleaning removing waste that easily clings and builds up along the wall of your piping, such as silt, sand, and hair. And it’s a more efficient method than snaking, which punctures and pushes through a clog in your pipe.
  2. Since hydro jetting uses water, it’s chemical-free! Much different than store-bought chemical de-cloggers, which can eat away at your piping, costing you more in the long run.
  3. It’s quick and clean! No digging and little clean-up are required after servicing your clog.

Hydro Jetting Cons

This method of pipe clearing is not a recommended DIY solution, requiring you to hire a professional plumber. This is mainly because the high-pressure water can damage – even break – your piping if misused in any way. So you risk making matters worse and much more expensive to fix.

How Does Hydro Jetting Work?

A hose connected to a highly pressurized water tank is pushed down inside your piping, particularly toward the clog. It is then activated to spray water up to 35,000 psi to remove the blockage.

How Long Does Hydro Jetting Last?

Since hydro jetting gives your piping a thorough cleaning when removing clogs, it’ll take much longer for any clogs to form since any build-up of waste has to start from scratch completely. So you won’t need to worry about a clog anytime soon.

Does Hydro Jetting Work on Tree Roots?

Since hydro jetting can pressurize water up to 35,000 psi, it indeed has enough force to quickly remove any infiltrating tree roots causing problems in your pipeline.

What’s the Difference Between Hydro Jetting and Snaking a Drain?

Both hydro jetting and snaking appear very similar, but snaking punctures through your clogging, whereas jetting sprays through any blockage, even cleaning the walls of your piping.

Again, given the thorough cleaning you can get from hydro jetting, the results last much longer and give you more time before needing your pipe serviced again. But, unfortunately, we can’t guarantee the same for snaking.

How Much Does Hydro Jetting Cost?

On average, hydro jetting costs anywhere from $300 to $500, depending on factors such as how severe your clogging is and where it’s located in your pipeline.

When Is Hydro Jetting Needed?

Although snaking and other less effective methods can remove clogs, hydro jetting ensures a highly effective, long-term solution to your clogging problems. So if you’re looking for more bang for your buck and proactive solutions, hydro jetting is the way.

Does My Home Need Hydro Jetting?

Suppose you’re noticing slow-draining sinks, showers, and tubs throughout your home. In that case, hydro jetting is a practical, long-lasting solution for getting your home plumbing back in tip-top shape.
